Sass & Bide Favorites

I am still waiting on my Sass & Bide Black Rat leggings to arrive in the mail. But ever since I ordered them I have been slightly obsessed with Sass & Bide. Of course the leggings are my favorite part of the collection but I have to say that the insane use of sequins, plaid, and the whole court jester look is really starting to grow on me.

If my obsession continues, which I think it will, I am going to order the plaid ‘A Secret Garden’ dress and possibly the sequin ‘Life of Color’ argyle vest. Of course I am typing this out like I have a load of money in my pocket that has no where else to go. Clearly, I am half asleep and should either go back to bed or start cleaning my apartment. Whatever, can’t a girl dream?

I will post photos of my pants as soon as they arrive (hopefully that’s today). Anyways … enjoy my Sass & Bide favorites.

Rachel Pally Sample Sale: August 2008

I love a good sample sale. I mean, who doesn’t? There are always sample sales in Los Angeles and I try to go to as many as I can/afford but I am never really too upset if I miss one.

Well that’s not entirely true. There is one sample sale that I never miss … Rachel Pally!

I believe this is my third or fourth Rachel Pally sample sale and just like the ones from the past, I left happy. I left the office early to get downtown and sat in 90 minutes of traffic but it was all worth it. Usually I walk in with some sort of mission like finding great party dresses or tube tops but not this time. I just went in with an open mind.

I ended up purchasing Rachel Pally’s wide leg pants in brown. I had originally picked them up in black but decided that the brown pair was much more interesting. I also picked up the seamed bustier top. Again I picked up this piece in black but decided that I had enough black strapless tops and went with this fun burnt orange color instead. My most random purchase at the sale, which is also my favorite is Rachel Pally’s bodysuit. I have such horrible bodysuit memories from my childhood but I couldn’t resist the cuteness of the ones that Rachel designed.

I am so happy with my purchases. The bodysuit looks amazing with the brown wide leg pants and the bustier top looks great with my new True Religion jeans. I am so happy with the bodysuit that I might go back to the sale tomorrow to get a few more, you know how I like to hoard stuff.

The best part of the sale was getting a chance to talk to Rachel and to see her family. Each and every sale that I have attended Rachel is always there working with her family. It’s freaking adorable and it’s always amazing to see a designer who is so down to earth. Especially one who’s clothes take up a large piece of real estate in my closet.

It’s funny how my mind works. I went into the Rachel Pally sample sale today wearing my Valentino sunglasses. At some point during the sale I managed to drop my glasses and failed to pick them up (idiot). I realized this once I had already left. I couldn’t turn around to get them because they were closed.

What do I do? I go shopping for a new pair, of course.

What happens?

True Religion Sydney Jeans in Medium Motor Psycho

I walk out of the store with these True Religion jeans and no sunglasses. I couldn’t help myself.

They were just what I was looking for — distressed, wide leg, and a light wash. I got them in size up than usual so I can really get that relaxed look (I usually like my jeans painted on).

I would also like to add that it was less than 2 years ago that I hate True Religion jeans and now I have 7 pairs. Denim, it’s like a drug and let me tell you this is one expensive habit to keep up.

Linea Pelle accessories for fall 2008

Ever since a friend of mine (who has a super star stylist sister) introduced to me to Linea Pelle, I have been slightly obsessed.

You may remember that I purchased a Linea Pelle bag back in May and I have yet to change purses. It’s August, that’s huge for me. Now I have been spotting Linea Pelle accessories all over the place, specifically her belts and bracelets. Keep an eye out because now you notice her accessories in magazines like Elle, Cosmo Girl, Seventeen magazine and more. Linea also has quite a celebrity following including; Lauren Conrad, Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and more.

Linea Pelle belts and bracelets are definitely going to have a place in my wardrobe this fall, especially since I will be unveiling a new look: Tough Girl Chic. I already have a 2 pack of the thin studded braclets in my shopping cart. I might also have to add that fierce belt too, it is on sale and who am I to resist the temptation of a sale?

Dear Fashion Kitty, jumper help!

I was just browsing through your web site and I was reading through all the questions people have asked you and you seem to have answers for everything. So I thought maybe you could help me. I was looking through People Stylewatch the other day and saw this romper worn by Kim Kardashian and fell in love with it.

I have been searching the web ever since. I think I must have check every possible web site and have had no luck finding it. Below is a picture of it. So it would be great if you could help me in finding who the designer is.

Jeepers! I have been searching high and low for this romper with like zero luck. It looks to me like it’s by La Rok but I really can’t say that with confidence. Readers, any ideas?

These rompers/ jumpers (whatever you like to call them) aren’t the same as Kim’s but I do like them all the same, especially the one on Sienna Miller …

Color Me Denim: Colored Jeans

In 2007 it was all about red skinny jeans but in 2008 denim is branching out with all of the colors in the rainbow. I have to admit like most trends resurrected from the the 80/90s I was hesitant to come on board with this one. But just like leggings did, colored skinny jeans grew on me.

Here are some of the best as chosen by me, Fashion Kitty. Personally I am after a tie-dyed style pair that I saw on Larchmont a few weeks ago. Once I snag a pair I will be sure to post about them. In the mean time enjoy the selection below.

Dear Fashion Kitty, Blair Bitch

Gossip Girl has just started airing in India where I live and I know you are probably sick of getting questions about the show but…the dress that Serena was wearing in Episode 14 (Blair Bitch..) when she opens the first gift from Georgina..do you have any idea who it’s by? It’s gorgeous!

Without a picture I am not positive which dress you are referring to but I assuming it’s this one (pictured above).

Diane von Furstenberg Everly embellished dress

The lovely dress pictured about is the Evelyn dress by Diane von Furstenberg. Unfortunately this studded dress is sold out, so you maybe want to scour ebay for this one.

If digging through ebay isn’t your thing (it isn’t mine) you can go for these alternatives.

This one by Design History has a similar neckline and is only $60 on BlueFly.

This dress by Hale Bob looks very similar too, especially around the waist and the bottom of the dress.

Of course if this wasn’t the dress at all please send me an email with the photo and I will track it down.

Saks and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s Ruby Slipper Event

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz in 2009, Warner Bros Consumer Products and Crystallized Swarovski Elements have asked top accessory and ready-to-wear designers to reinterpret Dorothy’s ruby slippers!

Now, I don’t know if you all are aware but The Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie of all times (it even beats out Mean Girls and Zoolander). When I was a kid I had a pair of red shoes that were my “ruby slippers”. In every photo taken of me in the months that those shoes fit I always lifted up my leg to make sure the shoes were in the picture. My shoe obsession started then.

So you know I am excited about kicking off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York with the Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection. The collection will debut at Saks Fifth Avenue with a gala event on September 4. The fabulous shoes will hang out in the windows for a week, and several will be displayed on the 8th floor 10022-SHOE through the 14th. The other shoes will surround the fountain in Bryant Park throughout Fashion Week.

This is going to be a Wizard of Oz fan’s dream come true! I will be sure to take lots of pictures.

The designers of the ruby slippers are:

A.Testoni, Abaeté, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi, and Tuleh.
