The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 4}

The Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series is back!

This week we’re tackling Step 4: Do The Work.
Image
The definition of work is “activity involving mental or physical effort done to achieve a purpose or result.”

But most people interpret work as being “grueling, painful, or stressful” – but guess what? It doesn’t have to be.

I hate to break it to you, but most things worth having involve some degree of work – relationships, business, and even your wardrobe.

Having great style takes work

The inner work, the Pinterest boards, mood board, shopping, styling, and maintaining your look takes WORK.

Instead of getting annoyed or frustrated with the work, why don’t you embrace it?

Make it fun, make it flow, and visualize how sweet your life will be when you nail this area of your life. The increased confidence, the self-respect, and the example you’ll be to those around you.

As a result of doing the work, my clients have increased their income, improved their sex lives, come out of their shells, and upgraded their social circles.

This leveling up business is powerful stuff.

After you watch today’s video, I want to know if you’re WILLING to put in the work? I also want to know what part of the “work” and the concept of leveling up scares you?

Let’s level up our style and our lives together!

The Secret to BIG Money and BIG Style

Image

>> WATCH NOW <<

Money is a very sensitive subject for a lot of people – especially right now.

There is no doubt that what is happening with the coronavirus is impacting the economy.

Stores are closed, restaurants are takeout only… essentially the globe is closed for business. During this pandemic I’ve seen both sides of the coin:

1.) People who are scared, stunned, and unclear on what the future holds for them financially.

2.) People who are CRUSHING IT right now despite the economy.

In fact, during my monthly mastermind call, one of my fellow boss babes had a record-breaking month, and another just sold a $24,000 coaching package!

Two groups of people living in the same world, but both are experiencing completely different realities. How does that happen?

You’re probably thinking it all boils down to luck, but the truth is it all comes down to this:

Alignment and mindset.

When your mind is sharp, and the default’s set to positivity and success, you cannot lose. Your mind is trained to make quick pivots and to come up with solutions that will ensure you weather-the-storm.

That is why I’m encouraging you to use this time to level up!

Get dressed, read, journal, work on yourself, and get your mind right.

Since so many people are sweating when it comes to money, I’ve decided to devote the entire month of April to ‘Money Mindset’ inside Style Confidence Collective.

Here is a little preview of what’s to come inside Style Confidence Collective:

Book Club: We’re reading my FAVORITE book about money mindset
It’s the first book I read on the topic, and since discovering it, I’ve read it five times!

Growth: Breaking & Building Money Habits
Let’s break some bad habits around spending money, saving money, and thinking about money with this month’s growth challenge.

Workshop + Guide: Wardrobe Budgeting
I created a next-level guide to help you budget for your wardrobe shopping – this ain’t your mama’s budgeting techniques.

Shopping Guide By Income
Dive into this month’s shopping guide (curated by me), which is broken down by budget.

Monthly Q&A
Ask me anything about anything 🙂

AND since last week’s Zoom styling party was such a hit, I’m doing four more in April:

April 7th: Decorate Your Denim
April 14th: Styling Scarves
April 21st: Stacking Those Bracelets
April 28th: Styling With Belts

It’s going to be a great month. If you’re already a member, I’ll see you inside. If you aren’t, you can click here to watch a little preview of what’s to come, and if you’re feeling inspired, join our rockin’ little community.

The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 3}

I’m having a very interesting reaction to what’s happening in the world right now. And I fully believe it’s testament to the personal development work I’ve done over the past ten years because:

I feel fired up, positive, and hopeful. Yes, even amongst the chaos, I’m like lets LEVEL UP!

Image

Level up on as individuals and as a collective global unit.

We have choices, people:

1.) Panic, freakout, and let the fear and uncertainly consume us.

Or …

2.) Grab hold of the things we can control and make the most out of a $*%t situation.

One thing we CAN control is what we wear. HELLO … that’s an easy one!

Getting dressed with intention (aka not throwing on yesterdays sweats) is proven to positively impact your mood.

So even if you’re sitting home eating Twinkies (because you’re on a government-mandated lockdown), let’s get dressed and finish what we started!

Ya know, The Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series that we’re smack-dab in the middle of.

Uh-huh. We’re still doing that, and today is dedicated to Step 3: Putting Some Skin In The Game.

Image>> WATCH NOW <<

I’m about to talk about money, so prepare yourselves.

We put a lot of meaning into money, and for many, the idea of wasting it is the worst thing ever. As a result, we become stingy are afraid to spend money when the outcome is unclear.

For example, it’s easy to spend money on something like food. You can see the food and eat the food, so in your eyes, no money “wasted.”

However, when it comes to something that is going to improve your life like coaching, an online program, a vacation … it becomes much harder. What if I don’t get a return on my investment? What if that money is wasted?

I’m going to speak from personal experience (as I always do); the more I spend to improve myself, the better results I see.

And this is NOT because more expensive = better.

It means I had some serious skin in the game, and I wanted to make sure that investment wasn’t a waste.

So this week for Step 3, I want YOU to put some skin in the game to ensure your Level Up experience sticks.

I’ll go through all of the details inside today’s video (no, I’m not going to ask you to spend a million dollars), and I have an interesting study to share that proves I’m not blowing smoke up your booty.

The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 2}

First of all, before we get started on Step 2 of the Level Up Formula, let’s address the elephant in the room:

This Coronavirus pandemic is like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my 39 years on this planet. I feel like the world took a bottle full of crazy, and we’re all forced to go along for the ride!

But sincerely, I hope everyone is staying safe out there. I’m keeping all of you and your families in my thoughts/prayers during this troubling time.

Image

In this time of uncertainty (and fear and panic), I am choosing to LEVEL UP on all fronts.

For me, this is a time to:

1. Be a good citizen by keeping my butt inside the house!

2. Continue to work on myself by filling my quarantine time with reading, cooking, creativity, and productivity.

3. Get dressed every morning – even when the collective mood is somber.

4. Laugh often (the memes coming out of this are hysterical).

5. Provide entertainment and education for all of YOU who are also stuck inside.

If you aren’t already, please follow me on Instagram/ IGTV because I’m posting videos pretty much EVERY DAY during this quarantine to keep you entertained.

Today’s video is continuing what we started last week: The Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series.

In Step 2, we are mentally preparing ourselves for the WORK that will be involved in making a change to our internal and external lives. This goes beyond just deciding to do something (we make BS decisions all the time), this is about committing yourself!

So take a look at today’s video and leave a comment if you’re committed to leveling up.

The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 1}

Do you know what time it is?

It’s time for a brand new Style Series!

Welcome to the Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to share with you the five things you need to know to level up your style and, as a result, your life!

Because what you wear is a physical manifestation of what’s going on inside.

Image

Today’s episode is devoted to Step 1: Making a Decision.

Have you ever looked in the mirror (or your closet) and didn’t like what you saw?

It happens to all of us, heck it recently happened to me. Nothing in my closet was inspiring me, and I felt an overwhelming urge to get rid of everything.

What you might not know is that “WTF moment” is the precursor to the first step of the Level Up Formula.

That moment is your window of opportunity for profound change; the question is, are you going to walk away or step through?

Most people walk away and CHOOSE to stay stuck. Stuck in the same tired outfits, at the same tired job, and feeling the same tired feelings. So many people choose mediocre over living up to their full potential.

But that’s not us!

Image

>> WATCH NOW<<

There is a reason you didn’t like what you saw; its because you KNOW you’re capable of more.

Ready for the first step? Here it is:

Just say, “ENOUGH! I want different.”

You don’t know how to change (yet), but you’re 100% not here for staying the same.

My challenge to you is for you to decide.

Are you going throw in the towel and accept whatever is staring back at you?

OR

Are you going to decide to do something different?

Drop your “ENOUGH” moment in the video comments, and let’s make a declaration to do differently!

The 6 Stages of Style Sabotage

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this one before, but it’s worth repeating:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

That’s not the actual definition of insanity, but you’ve gotta admit it makes a lot of sense. Yet we still repeat unsuccessful behaviors and wonder why they don’t work.

We do it in relationships by dating the same “type” only to scratch our heads when we haven’t found “the one.”

We do it with our bodies by eating junk food, and then are perplexed when our jeans don’t fit.

We do it with our style by participating in what I call the ‘6 Stages of Style Sabotage’, and wonder why we have “nothing to wear.”

Your system is broken, friend! Those old behaviors are begging to be retired.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Screaming, “I have nothing to wear” into a closet full of clothes.
  • Getting rid of everything you own during a closet “cleanse.”
  • Creating a Pinterest board full of outfits, you’ll never find the courage to wear.
  • Chasing that “new clothes high” by buying clothes you can’t afford.
  • Waiting for the perfect occasion to wear your new clothes while continuing to rock your old standbys.
  • Returning to that state of “I have nothing to wear” despair – but now you’re broke and sad.
  • What a waste of time, energy, emotions, and money! , it’s time to do things differently.

You need a PROVEN step-by-step system that is guaranteed to improve your style and change the way you approach getting dressed.

Lucky for you, I created the system.

Shopping Smarter: How To Curate A Winning Wardrobe

Shopping: some people love it, and some people hate it.

Growing up, I hated shopping, but somewhere down the line, I learned to love it. But even when I loved it, it didn’t mean I was doing it right.

When I was in my mid-twenties, shopping was my primary source of entertainment. I shopped every single weekend and made a purchase at every stop. My wardrobe was bursting at the seams, and my closet could barely contain my wardrobe – sounds glamorous, but it was a freaking mess.

I was 20k in debt, and my wardrobe didn’t function. Meaning I’d wear something once, and then it was destined to die a dusty-death inside my closet.

After some soul searching and growing up, I discovered that I had to shop smarter. The debt was crippling, and I was addicted to buying new clothes.

The mistake I was making was having NO PLAN when it came to shopping. That’s the theme of all of these common styling problems — no plan and letting your emotions run the show.

The next time you’re out shopping, I want you to ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you buying just for the sake of buying?
  • Does money burn a hole in your pocket?
  • Are you bored?
  • Are you trying filling a void?

To stop the shopping madness, you need to set a clear intention around your new wardrobe, which plays right into your shopping strategy.

When you get clear on your vision and make a solid shopping game plan – shopping becomes a BREEZE! You’ll know which stores to go to and what to look for.

My clients have saved SO much money after learning my shopping strategies, and quite a few of them have pulled themselves out of debt as a result.

Strategies & Secrets For A Successful Closet Cleanse

Cleaning out our closets is something we all do, and it’s 100% necessary.

Could you imagine if you kept every single garment you’ve ever owned? It would be cute to look at the kids’ clothes from back in the day, but just thinking about the clothes I wore in my 20s makes me want to vomit.

The moral of the story, cleaning out your closet is good! So I’m not about to tell you NOT to clean out your closet, but I am going to tell you to stop doing it the way you’ve been doing it.

It’s time to start cleaning out your closet the right way. That means cleaning out your closet without getting rid of everything you own. Or for some of you, without chickening out by getting rid of like two things.

Here is how you know if you’re doing it wrong:

  • You end up with 500 trash bags full of stuff, which means you’re shopping too much or you’re not cleaning often enough.
  • You experience extreme emotions – either too much of a get shit done feeling or a sad, depressed feeling.

If you’re doing it right, you should:

  • Feel a balanced sense of accomplishment.
  • Learn something about yourself and your style.
  • Feel like this is a jumping-off place for growth and evolution.

The secret to successfully cleaning your closet includes:

  • Prework (I have a special worksheet inside of Personal Style University)
  • A clear vision
  • A plan
  • And reinforcements – a friend, a community, or a stylist!

So the question is: are you doing it right? And if you’re not, I will teach you exactly how inside Personal Style University.

Building A Wardrobe That You’ll Love Using Pinterest

I love Pinterest. It’s safe to say I’m addicted. It’s a much better way to pass the time than screwing around Instagram. Plus, it’s an incredible tool to help develop your style. I use it, and I teach my clients how to use it properly inside my course, Personal Style University.

BUT my guess is you’re not using Pinterest correctly at all!

I bet you’re just willy nilly pinning everything that captures your eye. You don’t have a strategy around what you’re pinning or why.

Pinning random styles that don’t fit into any one style type, outfits you don’t quite have the confidence to pull off, and things that don’t match your lifestyle or body type will take you further away from your goals.

This half-cocked Pinterest strategy causes style chaos, which is funny because the whole reason you started the board was to gain style clarity.

And I didn’t tell you the worst part!

The worst part is you’re going shopping based on that chaotic board. Let me tell  you something, you will end up back where you started – a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear.

To change this behavior, you need to get crystal clear on the vision for your style BEFORE you start collecting visuals on Pinterest.
You need to be so clear on your goals and who you are as a person.

Your Pinterest board should be created in your mind first, and then once you’re on Pinterest it’s just a matter of finding the images that match what’s in your head so your vision can become a reality

Are you clear on your style vision? I can help you get clear inside Personal Style University, which opens up on January 29th.

How To Know If It’s Time For a Style Refresh

It’s 2020, the New Year is here, and if you’re like the people on my Instagram feed (cleaning out their closets, shopping)- you’re probably feeling compelled to bust out the “new year new you.” The new decade feels they are upon us, and people want change, and they want it now.

So what’s the problem?

The problem is you’re letting your emotions and an invisible to-do list drive forward your actions WITHOUT a proper game plan or solid intentions in place. Most people attack their style problems in this manner, and unfortunately, this is the gateway to everything going wrong.

Here’s what happens:

  • You decide its time for a new you, which means (in your mind) its time to refresh your style.
  • You clean out your closet – only to regret getting rid of half of your stuff.
  • You create a Pinterest board with all of your dream outfits, but this dream has no ties to your actual dreams.
  • You shop because you gotta capitalize on those post-holiday sales.
  • You feel good for a second, but ultimately you waste time and money

So why does this vicious cycle keep happening?

It happens because you are allowing other people’s timing or a sense of urgency to dictate your experience.

You are going into the styling with a process without a plan or intention.

How do you know if it’s time for an upgrade? How do you know if you’re making a big mistake?

First, check your motives: Do you just want new stuff? Or are you ready to level up your style?

Here are a few good reasons to refresh your style:

  • New job
  • Lifestyle change – newly single, moved to a new city
  • Weight changes – loss or gain
  • New beginnings – like legit new beginnings, not “new year new me.”

If you need a style refresh, I can help! Personal Style University 2.0 opens up on January 29th and will take your look to the next level.
