Dear Fashion Kitty, The Perfect Pocket Watch

Well darn it, I just can’t do it. What I’m referring to is finding IT, THE perfect vintage watch/locket to wear with, well, everything of course! I was particularly fond of the one Hilary Duff wore in The Perfect Man…it was just stunning.

Will you help me track down a locket/pocket watch, preferably gold (but can be silver or white gold) and preferably vintage (I’m talking as old as 1920’s-1980’s), and preferably in the price range of $30-100. I want a real beauty, something that I may even have my initials engraved into. My grandmother actually had a beautiful one, with tiny diamonds and a moon on it, but I’m not allowed to have it yet.

Man, you’ve gotta get grandma to hook you up! Maybe she will give it to you for your birthday?! Anyways … While you wait, I recommend you check out Etsy.com for some pocket watches. I did a search and 178 pages came back. I also recommend that you enjoy the search for the perfect pocket watch. Go to some vintage shops and flea markets on the weekend. I betcha you find some other really rad items on your search, ya know?

Anyways, if you really want MY opinion …. I like a pocket watch that is a little more banged up and aged to perfection — like this one. Good luck on your search and you better report back to me with what you find.

Dear Fashion Kitty, How Do I Wear Unusual Wedges?

My husband recently bought for me some really unusual wedge sandals. I love the sandals because my sweetie bought them for me and they are so different. However, I am not sure what outfit that I could wear them with. Any ideas?

Can you find me a cross body bag that is affordable. I want to find one that can fit my essentials, and it not too big and not too small. I recently visited my cousins on the other side of the country and carrying a big bag was really annoying. Cross body bags would be the best when traveling and would leave my hands free … Can you find me one similar to this one?

I love cross body bags too, especially for going out (sometimes a girl needs two free hands, ya know?) I did find one you one that is pretty darn similar to the photo that you sent. Its from Urban Outfitters, it even has a bow and its only $38. If you want to spend a bit more, I really like this one from TopShop. Its $80 but it has studs … and you know how much I love studs and things like that?!

Dear Fashion Kitty, Flat Suede Boots

I’m planning to buy a flat suede slouch boots for this coming winter. Could you advise me on how to dress them up? I’m hesitant to buy the boots because I’m thinking I wont be able to find clothes that will match them.

Are you kidding me!! You can wear those flat suede slouch boots with practically everything come fall/ winter 09 … Get them!!! I am totally going to get myself a pair. In fact, I’ve got my eye on this pair by Chloe. Any who … Here are some flat suede boot looks to get you started.

Look #1- Throw on some winter shorts, tights, and comfy sweater for a cute and casual look.

Look #2- Pair your boots with a floral dress and tights for a more dressed up look.

Look #3- Go to work (unless its ultra-conservative) with skinny jeans, a patterned blouse, and a vest.

Dear Fashion Kitty, Pink Ruffle Sweater

Can you tell me who makes the cute pink ruffle short sleeved shirt shown in the Fall Fashion 2009 Issue of the Victoria Secret Catalog Vol. 2 on PAGE 14??? Where can I get it? I’ve searched the internet but I can’t find anything that comes close to that adorable shirt!!! HELP!

Sorry to give you such an unhelpful answer, but the only place you can get that sweater is Victoria’s Secret. If they don’t have it, then its probably sold out. If you email me the photo, I can do my best to find you a similar sweater. I don’t actually get the Victoria Secret catalog … You subsribe and they end up sending you four freakin’ catalogs a day. Not that I’m a total eco-freak, but that’s pretty ridiculous. End rant.

Dear Fashion Kitty, Emma Watson’s Teen Vogue Style

I love Emma Watson’s style! She is like my fashion queen. I especially love her Teen Vogue photo shoot. How can I get Emma Watson’s look with these outfits or something similar to it? I go to a school where our skirts need to be below the knee but thankfully I’m short so I can get away with shorter skirts that taller girls wouldn’t be able to wear. The normal length for me would be 18 inches long.

Alright, lets cut right to the chase and hook you up Emma Watson style!

Look #1- This look is really fun. I am a sucker for leopard print and actually have a pair of leopard tights (they also happen to look amazing on.) With the look I created for you, I toned down the volume of the skirt a bit but everything else is pretty darn dead on.

*Go to the fabric store and pick up some satin ribbon for the belt and you are good to go!

Look #2- This look is a bit harder to nail without just going to D&G and buying the look. However, the look I created for you is a lot more appropriate for school. Hope you like it.

I am no expert when it comes to cosmeceuticals but I am a sucker for a doctor endorsed product. The truth is, I have no choice to be a sucker for such products!! I am getting older so I have to start taking better care of my skin. Dear Fashion Kitty, Hannah Montana Accessories

Not that I am obsessed with Hanah/Miley whatevs, but I really like some of her new stuff and I NEED to find it!

Okay first, her pink glove that is covered in jewels (She wears it in the Ice Cream Freeze vid) and second that big chunky white belt she has.

And how would you style those outfits? I know how I would style them but I want to see what you would do.

Alright lets get this party started, starting with the gloves. First of all, you owe ME an ice cream cone for forcing me to watch that video!! Second of all, I am afraid that I am going to encourage you to break out the bedazzler to get that look (you know you want to.) Just pick yourself up a pair of fingerless gloves then head over to your local craft store. It will be way more fun to make them yourself anyways.

What would I wear with a pair of fingerless blinged out gloves? Uh, anything 😉 Well that’s not entirely true .. I would wear them with something casual-cute. Try them with skinny jeans, a cute tee, and a shrunken motorcycle jacket.

Now onto the belt. That belt. That’s a BELT. I am going to say that the belt is a bit intense. I would actually get the look with this toned down version from White House Black Market. Then you can bring in the intensity with the outfit. Trust me, this is the better option then you can get more mileage out of the belt.

I’m invited to a party where the attire is all white. I’m thinking about buying this white dress and I have these shoes. What do you think? What accessories should I wear?


I never really understood the appeal of throwing a “white party” but whatever … I guess I don’t have to get it to dress you go for it.

Clearly, I won’t be throwing in any wild punches of color (might get you kicked out of the party) but we definitely can still have fun with some neutral accessories. Here is what I am thinking …
