You know how I can tell I am getting old? By the fact that 90s fashion is making a comeback. The 90s — didn’t we get just live those days? Well like it or not, they’re back.
I have some really clear 90s fashion memories, actually. I was in the 7th grade when grunge was at its best. For the first time, I really wanted to dress the part. I begged my mom to let me buy flannel shirts, Mary Janes, and baby doll dresses. Gees, I wore this one flannel vest like every damn week — until my Mom told me to give a rest already. I was so pissed at her for giving me fashion advice but looking back, I needed it. I did wear that vest a little too often. Anyways … I am starting to ramble.
D.Squared really brought the grunge to the runway for fall 2009 (it was actually one of my favorite fall 09 shows.) They of course infused it with some of today’s celebrity obsessed culture (with Starbucks cups, trucker hats, and all that jazz), but overall it reeked of the 90s.

So I going to call this look “Grunge Goddess.” To get this look you are gonna need the following:
– Plaid, plaid, plaid
– Combat boots
– Boyfriend cardigans
– Mary Janes
– Over the knee socks
– Baggy pants (jeans, cargo pants)
– Chunky knits scarves
– Baby doll dresses

I was wondering if you could help me with these two long skirts I own. One is black and looks somewhat like the attached picture but with a little more volume. The other skirt is white with greenish-blue and dull gold polka dots. It is tiered like the black skirt but has even more volume.
I was wondering if you could help me put together some looks for both. Maybe one casual and one more dressed up look for each skirt. By the way, I am from India but I wouldn’t want that to restrict you. I would like something a little edgy/sexy. I think I have been playing it very safe when comes to fashion and I am ready to move up a notch.
Sure, of course I can help you! I love a long skirt on a summer day (even though I actually don’t own a long skirt.) Here are a couple of long skirt looks and tips to get you inspired …
Tips for wearing a long skirt:
– Wear flat sandals
– Wear a shirt that is cut close to the body
– Have fun with jewelry
– Go with natural makeup and hair (nothing too done up)
I was wondering if you can help me find this dress. I can’t find it anywhere and I am in love with it! Any help would be appreciated!
Based on the photo, the dress was sold at ShopBop. Well … was that is. It appears that the dress is sold out. I would check ebay for it if I were you. Wish I could have been more of a help. You might also want to check back on Grey Ant’s site, they might make another dress like it next season.

Lets get real here people, times are tough. In fact, I would go as far as to say that times freakin’ suck! I don’t know about you, but I certainly can’t afford to buy jeans like I used to. I remember the days when my income was completely disposable and I could just drop $300 on jeans on a regular basis. That crap doesn’t happen anymore.
Thank goodness I can still fit into all of my old jeans and thank goodness there are affordable denim options out there. Speaking of affordable … I picked up a few pairs of Express jeans on the cheap. With a little FashionKitty styling, these jeans can look like a million bucks!
My new jeans: EXPRESS: ZELDA SKINNY LEG JEAN – RAILROAD STRIPE and the EXPRESS: ZELDA SKINNY LEG CUFFED JEAN
And here are the jeans styled and ready to go …

I bought a pair of these heels from Jessica Simpson’s shoe line. I love them so much but I don’t know what to match them with because of the straps. Can you give me an affordable outfit or some tips on what to match them with? I really am dying to wear them!

I think you should pair them up with some cropped white skinny jeans, a black and white striped top, and a black blazer. For summer, skip the expected red accessories and go with a pop of pastel pink instead.

The Look for Less
I love Serena’s style from Gossip Girl but she never wears any colors. I love bright colors and I was wondering if it is possible to get Serena’s style with Blair’s color pallet.
Yes it’s totally possible. Serena does work with color sometimes (bright yellows and blues.) And if you really think about it, Blair doesn’t use that much color in her wardrobe. She usually adds punches of color with her tights and accessories.
So next time you are out shopping and you see something that is very “Serena” and the piece comes in two colorways … buy the brighter one. It’s as simple as that.
Do you know if there is a current coupon for the Rakku Designs shoe wheel?
I don’t know of one right now. I emailed Rakku earlier this week about it. As soon as they get back to me I will let everyone know.
