Lauren’s Top 10 Fashion Websites

My laptop serves me in the following ways: to check email, to look at fashion inspiration, and to shop. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. Ok, occasionally I’ll make a spread sheet or type something up in a Word document but really, my laptop is like one big expensive magazine and I like it.

1.) Style.com: This is my homepage. Not Google, not CNN, not Yahoo … Style.com. I live for this site. It’s like food to me. Where else would I keep up with all of the latest trends and all the happenings on the runway?

2.) Net-a-Porter: Shopping mecca. This site is pure genius. The site is clean, easy to navigate, and the buyers and in-house stylists are on point. I also really enjoy reading their online magazine.

3.) Fashionista: My morning ritual includes a cup of green tea and Fashionista. I consider the equivalent to the morning newspaper.

4.) Fashion Week Daily (now called Daily Front Row): My favorite part of fashion week is getting The Daily. This site brings me that same joy daily. It’s like the fashion version of US Weekly but more informative and less trashy, of course.

OMG!!! Yay!!! OMG!!! The Lover!!! Yay!!

Ok remember back in November when I was asking you all to help me choose between the YSL Muse and the YSL Lover? Then in February I blogged about how I went with the Muse? Well I still have the Muse and I love it but boy was I surprised when I woke up this morning to find the Lover chillin in my hallway.

Umm … YAY!!! I love it. It’s so perfect in every way. I just had to share. Look at it in all its beautiful glory …

Lauren’s Top 10 Shopping Spots

Ya’ll know I love shopping. I can shop anywhere and tear it up!! Whole Foods, CVS, Target, wherever … I’ll shop it!! However, given a choice you will most likely find me shopping at one of my top 10 fashion spots.

1.) Barney’s New York: The love I have for Barney’s far exceeds words. Nothing beats Barneys and I’ll take it however I can get it! Whether it be shopping in their store (Beverly Hills and New York are best), their website, their outlet, or their warehouse sale … I am a happy camper.

10.) Loehmanns: I saved the best for last! Seriously. I spend/ save a stupid amount of money here. In my opinion the Beverly Hills location is the best. Their buyers are on point. Where else can you get YSL, Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, etc at like 90% off? Exactly.

In my opinion, no fashion library is complete without these ten books. Of course there are soooo many more awesome fashion books out there but these are always there to inspire me, educate me, and to help me out in a fashion jam.

Lauren’s Top 10 Fashion Magazines

Nothing makes me happier than peeling open a fashion magazine to check out the latest editorial stories.  Sure I could pick up a Vogue or an Elle in line at the grocery store (I sometimes do) but it just won’t serve up the crazy concentrated amount of fashion that I crave. When I need my extreme fashion fix I whip out the big guns …

1.) Lush Magazine: I found this Canadian fashion magazine at my favorite newsstand and just had to pick it up. This luxury fashion mag is jam packed with edgy editorials and there is barely an ad in sight. The price isn’t too bad either at $8.95 an issue.

Lush Magazine

2.) Indie Magazine: The Independent Style Magazine aka Indie Magazine won me over with the first issue I picked up. I love the spreads in the magazine; they are fashion forward and pretty wearable too.  Be sure to check out their current issue on their site.

3.) Interview Magazine: This one of the select few magazines that I actually subscribe to. The fashion is fantastic and the interviews are always interesting. Plus, I think Karl Templer is a genius.

4.) Pop Magazine: Some of my favorite editorials of all time come from Pop Magazine.  Always insanely unique styling with a fun mix of top models and celebrities.

5.) Prim: I didn’t let the $23 an issue price tag scare me because I knew what I saw inside would be worth every penny. Looking through this magazine was the equivalent of walking through an art gallery.

6.) Oyster: Definitely not your average fashion magazine but every issue is like a new interestingly pleasant surprise.

7.) Numero: I think this quote I found best describes this international fashion magazine .. “I was bored with magazines that told me how to seduce a man. I wanted to create this magazine for an intelligent, smart woman who wants to read about art, design, music: not about stupidity – creams that take away wrinkles, you know, which is stupid.” — creator of Numero.

8.) Russh Magazine: I just recently discovered this Australian fashion mag and am totally hooked! It’s a definite must read.

9.) Another: Want high fashion? Want sick photography? Then you want Another. If you want men’s fashion, then definitely check out Another Man. Both fantastic magazines.

10.) Tokion: I LOVE this magazine!! For some reason I can’t find their website anymore, it redirects to Inked Magazine. So I’ve linked to their Facebook page. To me, it’s like Nylon magazines cooler big sister.

Mama Got a New Pair of Shoes

What’s the best gift in the world for a girl like me? Shoes!! Wonderful, beautiful, uniquely-awesome designer shoes. My latest gorgeous gift of shoes are these beauties from Balmain.

I don’t know what it is about these shoes but they just freaking do it for me. As soon as I get to the salon for a pedicure … I am gonna rock these in a super casual way with rolled up baggy jeans, a white tank, and my favorite leather jacket. Yep, that’s how its gonna go. Add my new signature red Chanel lipstick and I am SO good to go.

Fashiongasm!!! Outnet.com $2 Sale

Wow, I just experienced a rush like you’d never believe!! I scored a Proenza Schouler runway dress for $2. Yes, you read correctly … $2. How? The Outnet.com’s $2 sale, that’s how. I missed the sale last year because I was working but this year I set my alarm clock and was ready to shop at 8am. Nice!!

1109_376337

I started by clicking on the special $2 link, then I entered in my dress size and my shoe size. I shopped at warp speed from the selection that would fit me.

It was intense.

Items go so fast during the sale, there isn’t really time to think (yes I am getting this deep about a sale). I scanned through the items and didn’t see any total must haves (nothing I would pay full retail for) but clearly I was getting something. There were three items that I dug … a Celine trench coat (clicked on it and it was already sold out), a floor length Rick Owens vest (when would I ever wear that), and a Proenza Schouler runway dress (I already have that same dress in another fabrication and color).

My mind raced and I didn’t want to risk making another site scan in fear of losing everything. So I decided on the Proenza dress. Why if I already basically have the same dress??? Well because the dress I have is SO good. I wear it all the time. The one I have is in a thick white material with black leather trim and straps. Oh snap … here is a picture of me in it. One side note, I did get the one that I have on custom fit by a tailor. I will probably do the same to my $2 dress.

lukeee-0752-2With Luke from School Of Style

As you can see the new one I bought for $2 has a leather bustier and a green satin bottom. Totally different but in a similar cut so I know it will look amazing on me. Yay!! I’m so happy.

PS- I love how the Outnet doesn’t charge shipping for this sale either. This was a straight $2 transaction. So far my best sale score to date!!!

Style For Hire with Stacy London

A few weeks ago I took another trip to New York City to attend a Style For Hire workshop with Stacy London. If you aren’t familiar with Stacy London then shame on you 😉 No seriously, Stacy is a totally awesome stylist who many people to know from the show What Not Wear. Anyways, Stacy and her business partner Cindy have created this genius business called Style For Hire. In short, Stacy trains and hand selects an army of stylists to style real women around the country.

So I went to this packed workshop for the sole purpose of learning from the personal stylist expert. However, after learning about the network … I wanted in! So after a weekend on styling education and challenges we all left wondering “Is she going to pick me?” After a week of wondering I got the news that I was selected as “one of the best from the bunch” to be a stylist in the network. SUPER EXCITING NEWS!!!

I am so honored to be a part of this talented group of stylists. Here are a few pics from the event …

We were all divided up into teams during the workshop. Here is my team … The Pink Team!

Barney’s Warehouse Sale … New York Edition

I am in NYC and of course, just had to stop into the Barneys Warehouse Sale. There was only 45 minutes to shop (which is basically nothing) but I made it work. I headed straight to the shoe department and boy am I glad I did. The shoes were take an extra 70% off the lowest marked price. That’s INSANE!!! In LA the final markdown is an puny extra 50% off. LAME in comparison.

Anyways … I totally dominated. Bitches were crazy in there but I managed to leave with four pairs of shoes. And btw, nothing I purchased was over $200. The most expensive shoe I got was $192. Yep! And because I am psycho, I figured out how much my total (before tax) would be if I paid retail. Ready for this? $4,225. I love a good deal.

Here is what I got. I am so in love.
