I was just watching the DVF Spring 09 runway show (again) on ShopBop and I am now 100% obsessed with the hair accessories. I smell a new trend …
I am going to NYC in a few weekends for a friends birthday–and he and all his fab gay friends expect nothing but the best. I want to rock wet leggings…but I am not sure what to wear with them. I have been looking around revolveclothing.com, mainly because I have some discount codes for them. Any ideas? The more outrageous the better….I ain’t scurred.
LOL! Scurred is one of the best words around isn’t it? Anyways. I love the wet leggings/ leather like leggings look. I rock it ALL the time. Let’s stick with Revolve for shopping because a.) they are fabulous and b.) you have some discount codes.
When I visited the Revolve Store on Melrose, I saw the most fabulous leggings by Costume Dept. Their leggings are pretty darn crazy so if you decide to go with those, keep it simple on top. Joyrich also has some crazy leggings too, if you want to go that route.
But what I really recommend is going with black leggings that have a little extra oomph to them. You will get a ton of mileage out of them and they just look cool.
Go with one of these …
Black Rat leggings by Sass & Bide- I own these and LOVE them (wear them all the time.) They make my ass looking banging and the rouching details makes them different from the rest.
Daryl K contoure leggings- Mmmm, these are sexy. Wear them with crazy strappy “I’m gonna kick your ass” heels for maximum effect.
Stylein Holly leggings- These are some kind of awesome. I am actually going to order a pair now because I can’t resist them.
No matter what pair you choose, this look will have your NYC friends way impressed and jealous (in a good way.)
Take your hot little leggings and pair them up with a Lauren Moshi top (I have one and it’s fab.) The Lauren Moshi top is perfect because it’s stylish and long enough to cover the booty. Wear some amazing heels because, who doesn’t love an amazing pair of heels? A boxy fur (faux or real) vest will keep you warm and balance out the proportion of the longer top. Add a clutch, a statement necklace and you are good to go.
Have fun!
About 2-3 weeks ago on Gossip Girl Blair was wearing a silver necklace that had a ‘B’ and a ‘W’ on it. They were silver as well, and almost looked like letters from an old fashioned type writer. I’m dying to have them. Do you know where I can find them?
Without a screen grab I can’t be certain about which necklace you are asking about . BUT I do know that this necklace by Garland Collection was worn by Blair on Gossip Girl … so I am hoping this is the one you are looking for. Check out their site to personalize your own (and beware, they are pricey.)
You’ve mentioned that you’re lusting over those gorgeous leopard print Marc Jacobs mouse flats. What outfit would you pair it with?
For me, leopard print is a neutral color. Like brown, black, white, and beige — leopard print goes with everything. I actually have a variation of the outfit I am about ot recommend to you on my back right now.
My cute and casual mouse flats look:
– Marc by Marc Jacobs leopard mouse print flats
– J Brand Skinny jeans
– Black cable knit cashmere sweater
– Betsey Johnson chandelier earrings
– Newsboy hat
I’m a big fan of your blog and recommendations on ThisNext! I’ve been a silent reader for the longest time but now I have to ask you something! Weirdly, it’s not really a fashion question. I saw that you’ve been into raw foods lately… and I’m really interested in starting a raw foods diet too. I bought some of the raw food bars that you’ve reviewed on ThisNext and they were pretty great. Anyway, I was wondering if you could answer some questions for me:)
Check out my answers in purple 🙂
1. Does eating raw foods make you feel different?
It does, a little. It definitely gives me more energy and I feel “cleaner” when I eat raw.
2. What are some of the best “raw foods” snacks? Where can I get them?
I find all of all my raw snacks at Whole Foods. The Whole Foods by my house has a isle that is raw. I go for raw almonds, fruit, and Larabars.
3. Has it made you lose any weight?
It does help me lose weight. When I first started eating raw I planned on doing it permanently BUT my trainer yelled at me because this diet doesn’t allow me to get enough to protein for my fitness goals. When I feel like dropping a few pounds (about 5lbs) or if I want to detox from all of the toxic stuff I consume on the weekends — I go raw.
4. Besides snacks, what are some other raw foods that you eat (besides fruit)?
When I go out I eat sushi and when I cook at home I try to get crafty with salads/ veggies. I found a lot of great recipes on this site.
5. Is it really really hard to be on a raw foods diet?
It is hard. Its fun and challenging at first to eat raw but after the honeymoon period wears off, its hard as hell. Eating raw makes it nearly impossible to go out to eat (you usually have one or two choices on the menu) and with any restricted diet … you get cravings.
I honestly suggest going raw during the week and eating normal on weekends or going raw one or two weeks out of the month for a detox.
6. Do you have any recipes for me? 🙂
Most of my recipes are totally made up with whatever veggies I picked up at the store or farmers market. Try this site for ideas and create your own variations based on the food you like.
That’s it basically. And if you could tell me as MUCH as you can about the raw foods diet and your experience with it, I’d really appreciate it.
I hope that was helpful!! Good luck on your raw foods diet.

Buying gifts is great and all but do ever find that a lot of times its impossible to buy gifts for a person unless they like what you like? If only my Dad liked Sephora and Saks as much as I do.

Well here is the solution and mine you, the ultimate solution!!! A Gifts.com gift certificate. Seriously. This is WAY better than any other gift certificate. Why? Well because it works for like every retailer under the sun. I can use it at Starbucks, Sephora, Saks, GAP, TJ Maxx, Macys … you name it and it probably works.
This is a gift that you can’t screw up and it will save you a ton of time. You can thank you me later. I’ll wait.
OH and did you notice you can personalize it? Yep, that’s my pretty little face on the card. How cool is that?

Now I know you just pulled out your cold weather gear – sweaters, boots, and all that fun stuff but it’s time to discover what’s hot for Spring 2009.
Spring 09 has a new trend in store for us, which I am calling “Fashion Globetrotter.” This trend has nothing to do with an acrobatic basketball team, it’s more about a “new” boho look. The”old” boho look that we know and love has been around for years now. We have seen it on “it” girls like Nicole Riche, Mischa Barton, and our favorite boho girl – Mary-Kate. That look was more “hippie” than “well traveled.”

The “new boho” or “Fashion Globetrotter” look (as I call it) is more worldly. These are clothes and accessories that tell a story. An easygoing boho look with pieces that look like you picked them up on some amazing vacation.
One way to get the look is to go with a garment that has a graphic ethnic piece. This piece will serve as a sure bet for the trend and will take little to no effort to pull off. Just pull your hair back and toss on some gladiator sandals and you are ready to go.
Another way to score the look is to go the trendy celebrity route. Take a pair of baggy ripped up jeans (Current/ Elliot) and roll them up and put on your favorite pair of chunky high heeled shoes, I prefer Chloe. Go with a simple black tank on top, teamed up with an open safari jacket and gold snake accessories and you will rocking the “globetrotter” look like a true A-lister.
