May I just say, my clients are the COOLEST!!
When my latest client, Think and Grow Chick, reached out to me I thought to myself, ‘OMG this is going to be the perfect pairing.’ If you don’t know her, she is a business badass to the max! Think and Grow Chick is an entrepreneur who is killing the game in the financial/personal development space.
She reached out to me because she felt her look didn’t properly convey her personal brand, and she wanted a look that would attract the right people to her business. Because I have gone through this myself (and I work with women EXACTLY like her), I knew she was in the right hands.
As you can see in a few snaps from her 7-day selfie challenge, she was by no means a train wreck. In fact, she has great style and some amazing pieces in her wardrobe. So what’s the problem? The problem was her look was screaming “corporate America,” when her brand and personality was much more carefree and fun.
My mission was to infuse some personality into her look, and as a result, increase her confidence.
The style development process is always such a fun step in my styling process because I get to find out what the client loves but is too afraid to try on her own.
For her new look, the direction was classic, sophisticated, a bit of an edge, and the slightest nod to bohemian fashion. Her icons included Victoria Beckham, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Blake Lively.
Since my client is a business owner, it was important to buy quality pieces without breaking the bank. So I did a little high/low mix shopping (some might call it my specialty). Here are the stores I hit:
Every piece from her pull was under $200. Including a Stella McCartney little black dress from TJ Maxx, that was $199.
Top by ATM, Vest by Theory, Suede leggings by Vince, Necklace by Cara
Top by Topshop, Trousers by Zara, Earrings from Shopbop, Necklace by Topshop
Sweater by ATM, Skirt by Topshop
My fittings are always fun! Snacks, music, and enough clothes to fill a 3-hour window – the average time of my fittings. She tried on everything I brought and in the end, we exceeded our original budget. Oops! No, it ended up being awesome because she won’t have to shop for a VERY long time! Plus, I built her a functional wardrobe with pieces that can easily be mixed and matched.
In the end, we have another happy and fabulous client who is ready to take on the world! How good are these looks? She went home with WAY more, but these were my personal favorites.
