How To Wear Lilly For Target (If You Aren’t A Lilly Girl)

lilly for targetUnless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Lilly Pulitzer for Target was a MASSIVE hit. Even if you aren’t a Lilly fan, you probably were curious enough to purchase a piece – or at least try to.

I stopped by Target an hour after opening and clearly I was 55 minutes late because that place was cleared out! There were a FEW items left on the Lilly for Target rack in the women’s department. Some bathing suit bottoms in XXL, a necklace, some hair ties, and a charm bracelet. I went to scoop up the accessories and I was quickly intercepted by some rabid fans. Somehow I made it out with the charm bracelet (I had been eying it), one pack of hair ties, and a nail file.

Next I hustled over the home section and again was presented with an almost empty display. There were three vases and a garden stool left. I didn’t need either but I was able to talk to some disappointed shoppers. I heard tales of hopping from store to store, to waiting at the dressing room doors for 3 HOURS to get people’s cast offs.

Needless to say I felt pretty accomplished for walking out with the charm bracelet.

So back to the point. Let’s talk about how you would wear Lilly if you aren’t exactly a Lilly girl …

1. Choose Your Pieces Wisely

If you aren’t a fan of crazy resort style prints, then by all means stay true to yourself and snag something from the collection that speaks to you. While I was scoping out the collection online before it launched, I knew I could work some of that gold into my wardrobe. The seashell charm bracelet would look awesome with some leopard print or stacked with bracelets that I already own.

Now let’s say you wanted to try to rock a signature Lilly Pulitzer print, how about mixing it with garments that you would already wear? If I were able to snag a top I would for sure mix it with skinny jeans, a leather jacket, and my classic Chanel bag.

What I love about fashion is that you can get crazy with it if you want to. What if you took a piece and re-purposed it? How about taking a charm bracelet and turning into a bag charm? I’ve seen crazier things happen.

4. Style Another Area Of Your Life

What was cool about this collection is that it spanned so many areas – women’s fashion, kids, home, and beauty. So if you think you can’t (or if you don’t want to) wear the collection; style-up your home, hair, or nails with Lilly for Target. I snatch up some cute hair ties and an adorable nail file – for the win!

Did you pick up any pieces from the collection? How did you style it? Do tell …
