Natural Hair Update: At-Home Dye Job

shea moisture dye review

It’s been a while since I’ve updated you all on my natural hair journey. Mainly because there hasn’t been much to report on. Basically I have good days and I have bad days. Lately I’ve wanted to just shave my head and call it a day. I could pull off an Amber Rose look, couldn’t I? Growing out this undercut/ growing my hair to the length I want is taking FOREVER! I wish I could just snap my fingers and have longer hair. Well technically I could if I got a weave but I’m trying to tough it out.

Anyways …

Last week I experimented with coloring my hair at home. I always go to the salon to get my hair dyed but when I saw the Shea Moisture hair color while doing a Target run, I couldn’t resist. I was just dying it black, what could go wrong? Thankfully nothing went wrong because I definitely had a live television appearance the next day.

First of all, love the packaging! Beautifully packaged, nice gloves, and cute little bottles of shampoo and conditioner. We were off to a great start. The product was easy to mix and the directions were easy to follow. The one thing I could have used was another box of dye. I have short but THICK hair and I really had to stretch the product to cover every strand.

The product is completely natural which means no harsh smells or anything horrible like that. The entire process took me about an hour and in the end, my hair looks and feels great. Seriously, I totally feeling myself with my new jet black hair and at-home styling abilities.
