I want to buy new stuff ALL the time but my bank account seems to think that’s not such a great idea. When I do shop for myself and for my clients, I try my best to save some money. I’ve got 9 tips that will help you save money while you shop.
I schedule all of my big shopping trips around the sales. Why pay full price when if you wait a few minutes you can save some money? Mark all of the sales on your calendar and plan accordingly.
The salesclerks should and need to be your new best friends. They will keep you informed about secret sales and might even hook you up with a little loyal customer discount.
I learned this embarrassing tip from my mother but it does work. Check all of your possible purchases for excessive wear and tear, or defects. Even a little makeup mark can earn you an extra 10% off.
Some people are born hagglers (I’m not one of them) but sometimes if you ask for a discount they’ll just give you one.
Offline shopping is great but online shopping often brings the best deals. For example, I never buy beauty products offline. Hair dryers, flat irons, and other tools are almost always cheaper online. Shopping for clothing on sites like Yoox and The Outnet will also save you big money.
Speaking of shopping online, never ever ever checkout without looking for a coupon code. You can easily save 10-20% off of your purchase.
Because there ain’t no shame in saving! Head over to my favorite spots like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Nordstrom Rack to score the best deals in town.
If you frequently shop at department stores, consider getting their store credit card. Only do this if you pay off your card in full every month (interest does not equal saving). Barneys sends you a gift card based on how much you spent on your credit card that year and Nordstrom gives you a $20 gift certificate for every 2000 points you earn.
Not to toot my own horn (toot, toot) but working with a stylist can save you money because we are the masters of great deals! I regularly save my clients thousands of dollars and they don’t have to lift a finger.
