10 Ways to Wear a Sweater

Last week I posted about how sweatshirts were really giving sweaters a run for their money. But that doesn’t mean that sweaters are on their way out. Sweaters are a cold weather staple. If I had it my way I’d live in sweaters (unfortunately it’s hot as hell in LA right now so I can’t).

Here are 10 stylish ways to wear a sweater. From dressing them up to dressing them down, there are endless styling possibilities when it comes to wearing your sweater collection.

Wear it with leather

With a summery skirt

Take a risk and combine seasons by pairing a summery skirt with a slouchy winter sweater. Btw this only works in locations with “fake ass” winters like LA.

A sweater doesn’t have to be your last layer. Thinner sweaters definitely call for an additional layer like a statement blazer.

Thrifty style

Take a beat up vintage (or vintage inspired) sweater and match it with modern accessories like a studded purse or statement jewelry.

With matching lipstick

Red details on your sweater? Make them pop by rocking a matching lip color.

Add a fur

Get extra cozy with a big old fur over top of a chunky sweater. Just be careful when choosing your fur – it has to match the vibe of the sweater.

With shorts

I love the idea of being covered up on top while showing a lot of skin on the bottom. This is a great way to transition from the warmer months to the colder months.

This look is appropriate if you are a.) a 6 foot tall model or b.) a person who enjoys being comfortable. Just makes sure to balance out this baggy look with a pair of hot heels.
