Out of all of my personal styling clients, I’ve never met a woman (or a man) who wanted to look heavier in their clothing. Everyone wants to look a little taller and a little slimmer … without working out or giving up his or her favorite foods. Fashion can be a very powerful tool for looking thinner. And it is actually isn’t as difficult as it sounds.
Without further adieu, here are 5 ways to look thinner in your clothing.
Dressing in one neutral color from head-to-toe can do wonders for your body. This technique creates one continuous line, which is better than breaking up the body with different colors.
A woman’s waist is the slimmest part of the body (some waists may be higher or lower than others) showing this off gives the overall appearance of being slimmer. Dresses with nipped in waists or adding a belt to an ensemble will do the trick.
Clothing that is too tight or too baggy will make you look bigger than you actually are. Opt for pieces that skim the body and outline your silhouette for the ultimate slimming effect.
Round toe heels may look cute but they can actually make you look larger than you are. Pointy toe heels are a total win. Plus they look incredibly classy.
It’s all about proportions when it comes to styling. Wear prints that are proportionate with your body; small frame needs small prints and large frame needs large prints – same goes for jewelry.
