NYFW Fall 2013: Tadashi Shoji

Tadashi Shoji sprung onto the scene when he dressed Octavia Spencer for the Oscars. I’ve been a fan ever since. Tadashi designs dresses for all women and makes it quite affordable (we love that). So you know I was absolutely thrilled when I was invited to watch his runway show from the American Express Skybox.

The collection was absolutely stunning (seeing it in photos does not do it justice). Tadashi was influenced by this recent visit to Russia and it shows. The collection has the whole folkloric peasant-chic thing down, as well as the Russian ice princess vibe with winter whites and light as snow feather details.

Other trendy details I noticed was the use of cobalt blue – we will be seeing that color a lot come Fall 2013. I also sniffed out a little bit of 80s influence in the collection with puff sleeves and dropped waistlines. There were also plenty of beautiful red carpet options too.

Below are a few of my personal favorites. Also, stay tuned because I got a chance to sit in on an exclusive American Express Skybox Q&A with Tadashi Shoji.
