Spring Trends with Kohls: Bold Color

When it comes to my closet; black dominates my wardrobe. However, lately I’ve found myself being seduced by the bold color trend. It started innocently enough with a pair of hot pink pumps. Then the color seduction progressed with a bright orange sweater and then out of nowhere I found myself wearing a neon green dress.

I mean, the runways have been running rampant with this trend, so it was really only a matter of time before bold color found it’s way into my wardrobe.

With that being said, it’s safe to say that I am officially sold on color, which is why I was really excited to get the opportunity to style a “bold color” look at Kohl’s.

To successfully rock the “bold color” trend you really have to go for it. Simply slipping on a red shoe or a pair of colored jeans just won’t cut it these days. If you want to go bold, you have to go full speed ahead with color. Here is how I got the job done at Kohl’s.

I started at the bottom and worked my way up with these amazing patent pumps from Simply Vera by Vera Wang. How good are these? I was drawn to them immediately. Cobalt blue in the front and chartreuse in the back … hello, fabulous! My designer shoe snobbery went right out the window when I saw these babies.

The color madness didn’t stop there either. Next I grabbed a pair of cropped red skinny jeans byRock & Republic. I have to say, the fit on these are fabulous (tight in all the right places). Finding these jeans was a total score- premium denim for a fraction of the price, can’t beat that!

I almost chickened out by going with a white and black printed tank from Simply Vera by Vera Wang but Vera’s multi-colored printed tank was just what the doctor ordered to nail the “bold color” trend.

I anchored the look with a solid black boyfriend blazer from LC by Lauren Conrad because going with a colored blazer might make me a candidate for Clown College. The blazer is great because it’s a wardrobe staple that can be worn season after season, making it a great investment piece.

I sprinkled in a few accessories for good luck – a set of pyramid stud cross bracelets from the Jennifer Lopez collection and a leopard belt from Chaps (no bold look is complete without a touch of leopard).

I’m pretty much obsessed with my look and with my entire experience at Kohl’s. The store was totally chill, which isn’t what I expected from a department store with a lower price point. The store was spotless, the employees were helpful, and no one hassled me for shopping in the store for hours (literally).  Oh and everything I purchased rang up for less than the ticket price – gotta love a sale!!

  1. Yellow and blue has been one of my favorite color combo’s. This spring I am obsessing over pink and orange.  Would love to see you move away from the black Lauren. I think its like your security blanket. Move away from the black.
