When it comes to labels, I often stick to standbys like Maison Martin Margiela, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, and Ann Demuelemeester but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy branching out. In fact, I love learning about new labels and supporting up-and-coming designers. So when Los Angeles based label Miilla asked me to test-drive a piece from their collection I of course said yes.
Miilla is new to the contemporary clothing scene (they debuted in the summer of 2010) and strives to deliver chic and comfortable clothing to their customers. So the question is, did they manage to pull it off? Based on my experience with one of their most popular pieces … yes they did!
The Miilla piece I wore today was their gathered bat-wing shirt in white. Honestly, the top is a little out of my fashion comfort zone but when it comes to fashion I’m always ready to get “uncomfortable”. And as it turns out the top is probably the most comfortable garment I’ve ever put on! The material was super soft and the roomy cut was just what I needed after a long week of travel.
I paired this cozy top with a pair of Mother corduroy jeans, my mystery label leopard print pumps, and a skull necklace by Pamela Love. I have to say I felt pretty darn chic today! I must have been too because I kid you not, while walking to Coffee Bean to grab a green tea a car actually pulled over to tell me they liked my outfit!!
How awesome is that??!!
So I am totally convinced that Millia is a label to love. Check out their website and take a look at their latest look book.
