Wardrobe Essential: The Motorcycle Jacket

If you know anything about me and my personal style, then you know how much I love a motorcycle jacket … I am actually wearing one as I type this post!

No matter what your personal style, a motorcycle jacket is a wardrobe essential. Designers have been making this classic cut work for a wide variety of people. If you consider yourself edgy, there are a ton of black moto jackets that add an instant edge to any look. If you want to go even edgier, it isn’t hard to find a studded motorcycle jacket either – I can’t swing a dead cat without hitting one (I just had to use that phrase). But what if you crave a softer more feminine look? Well, lucky for you there are a ton of options. Try a soft pastel moto jacket or ditch the leather and go for boucle or tweed instead.

I’ve picked a few of my current favorites that will fill every fashion lovers needs …

Elizabeth and James New Rory bouclé-sleeved denim biker jacket

DKNY Color-block leather biker jacket

Balmain Coated bouclé biker jacket

Middle Row

Balenciaga Motorcycle Jacket

Matthew Williamson Ball-embellished leather jacket

Christopher Kane Neon wool-blend crepe biker jacket

Bottom Row

SUNO Coated-cotton biker jacket

Givenchy Zip Front Jacket

Rick Owens High Neck Jacket

Hot, right? But how do you wear them? Here are a couple of ideas …

1.) Keep it simple and casual with skinny jeans, and a tee shirt. You can make it casual-glam with heels and Hollywood shades or you can go street style with converse and a graphic tee. Both ways are carefree and very stylish. Much more stylish than a hoodie, don’t you think?

2.) Go girly with a floral dress. Jessican Alba does it, why can’t you? Jessica is not what I consider edgy but with this look she adds edge while keeping her feminine flare. Nicely done, Jessica.

3.) Get sexy with shorts. Wearing a moto jacket and shorts ensemble is the perfect way to be playful yet sexy without being trashy. Great look for a first date. You’ll look stylish and sexy but you won’t look like you are trying too hard and unless you’re a total spazz, you will probably score a second date too!
