I am migrating to a new company, and its new dress policy is business casual. So basically I would have to ditch my comfy jeans for work. Could you pull up an ensemble for me to wear? I don’t want too “corporate-y” outfits in which I would look like I’m 40 — I’m in my mid ’20’s, but something fashionable and classy to wear for work —
Believe it or not, business casual isn’t the fashion kiss of death. You can be work appropriate and still look fabulous (look at shows like Lipstick Jungle and Cashmere Mafia.) There are some basic pieces that you should have in your wardrobe that you can mix and match with trendier pieces. Of course if you have a little more $$ you can buy some really fashion forward business pieces.
Business Casual must-haves:
– Blazers
– Trousers (slim, wide leg, cropped)
– Blouse (button front, secretary)
– Sweaters (cashmere, cardigans)
– Pencil skirt
– Great solid dresses (Black Halo would be a good option)
– Closed toe shoes (pumps, loafers)
– Tote bag to carry paper/ laptop
– Vest (these are great for layering)
– Fun costume jewelry for a little extra wow
Here are some outfits that should help get you motivated and inspired. Use these as inspiration, all of these looks can easily be created for less at places like Target, H&M, Loehmanns, etc …
