Dear Fashion Kitty Update, Affordable Dresses

This is really early, but I would rather get a start on things and be able to look around as spring clothing comes out. This summer, I’m going to be studying abroad in Oxford, England for all of July and the first half of August. I researched the weather and it said it could be anything from cold and rainy to warm and sunny. I know what to pack for colder weather – I have rain boots, jeans, raincoat, etc. But for the warmer weather, I’m unsure of what to wear. I hate wearing shorts over there because it seems to scream “Look at me! I’m an American tourist!”

I would really like to find some casual dresses to wear around when it’s warm and/or hot outside. The problem is, most of my casual dresses that I already have seem to fit more Florida/California/Caribbean Cruise environments. They aren’t tropical prints or anything, but they’re dresses I would wear over a swimsuit to the beach.

I’m looking for some casual dresses that are more fit for urban wear, maybe something with sleeves or wide straps. The cheaper, the better. I can’t afford anything designer or even over $75 per item. So can you help me out at least a little bit? Thanks!

Girl, do you know who you are talking to?? FashionKitty. Of course I can help you 😉 What you need is a wardrobe full of jersey dresses. They are comfortable, stylish, and can be very affordable. The great thing about jersey dresses is that hardly anyone can tell how much they cost. You accessorize them in a million ways too! Dress them up, dress them down … anything goes with these. I found a bunch that I think you (or anyone) could get a lot of use from AND they are all under $75. Some of these have sleeves that are a bit longer, for those weird days when it’s warm but a little chilly … transition dresses.
