My hair hates relaxers, it’s so darn curly that nothing can straighten it out. As a result; I have to blow dry it straight, then flat iron it, and then go over it with a curling iron. It’s hell and I didn’t even get into the products I have to put on after wards.
This past weekend I decided that I couldn’t handle the hell called my hair for a second longer so I went to pick up a relaxer kit at Target. I had planned on going with Revlon (even though I hate it) but when I saw this Olive Oil brand I knew I had to go for it.
I use Olive Oil brand leave in conditioner and it does wonders for my hair so I figured I would be in good hands with this kit … and let me tell you something I was.
The kit was simple to use and had lots of conditioning agents to along with it. My hair came out straight, shiny, and healthy looking. It was like I went to the salon, except this kit was like $8 and the salon is well, too much damn money at the end of the day.
I like their products alot! Ah, the days of all that blow drying, flat ironing, curling iron, then the mess of products make me happy i have my curls now lol! I had to put a relaxer and color in my moms hair and was too through!!!
This post brought home the plight of those with defiant hair. I don’t have to deal with curls as much as you do, but mine is definitely thick, and I have a lot of it. I went a little apeshit with my self-gifting over the holiday so I won’t be able to hack my January visit to my stylist. Good to know you had a good experience with this. I keep my hair boy-short so it needs to be SUPER straight.
I heard that Olive Oil Perm was the bizness but I won’t try it because , like you, its $8.

Harley Davidson Desire Boots ……….
Thanks for publishing this wonderful blog
Girl.. I can relate to all of your hair care problems. I love Olive Oil but if it’s sold out I use Dr. Miracle which is a miracle.
I feel your pain! I haven’t permed my hair in a year, I’ve been wearing it in an afro. But. I needed a trim, so I decided to get it flat ironed at ulta. It hurt so much; my hair is so thick. The poor woman spent 2 hours and a half blow drying/ detangling it (my hair tends to do that a lot) and flat ironing it. The result was rather good. I decided I would put a relaxer on my roots, although I loved rocking the fro’, it’s much easier to comb when straight. I think my next post will be about that salon trip 😉
