Dear Fashion Kitty, Layering Shorts Over Skinny Jeans

A while back I was watching a runway show of Chloé and some of the models were wearing shorts over pants . Its a look Ive wanted to try for a while now but not quite sure how to pull it off. I was thinking of making it more of a high street look with shorts and skinny jeans. What style shorts with what colors and jeans etc …I’m just not sure how to wear it at all.

Step away from the shorts and skinny jeans. It won’t work. Let me tell you why … Bulk city! You will be so uncomfortable you will want to rip your legs off AND it probably won’t look very flattering either. I will recommend wearing shorts with tights or shorts with leggings. Allure magazine says that look is over but I am still cool with it (wore this look just the other day.)

Here are a few rules to follow before attempting this look:

– Match color stories: Black shorts with predominately black leggings works best

– Coordinate: If you are wearing plaid shorts that are black and purple, lets skip the red tights or leggings. When in doubt go with black.
