Dear Fashion Kitty, Bridesmaid Dilemma

I am a bridesmaid at an upcoming wedding and I am going to see several family members that I do not get to see that often. The bride has selected a very nice dress for her bridesmaids, but she wants the shoes to match the exact color of the dress. She also picked out the style of jewelry that she wants her bridesmaids to wear. How can I differentiate myself from the other bridesmaids without going over the top?

It’s all about the hair baby! It’s the one thing that she can’t control. If it were me I would be a total brat and wear something crazy like a tiara … but for you I suggest something a little less daring (read: crazy).

One idea is to wear a jeweled hair clip. Cara makes some great ones, you can find them at Nordstrom. Jeweled hair accessories always looks pretty and that bit of sparkle goes a long way in making you feel different from everyone else.

I don’t know what your dress looks like but I am totally in love with this headband by Tasha. The headband is elegant and comes in taupe and black so it should match whatever dress you have on.

Good luck and have fun at the wedding.

  1. Isn’t the bridesmaid not supposed to try to upstage the bride? The bridesmaids are supposed to look similar, right?
