Dear Fashion Kitty

I recently discovered your blog and I really love it. I’m going to New York in February and I’ve never seen snow or experienced winter before (i live in Asia). please give me some advice on appropriate footwear. oh and since i probably wont be experiencing winter for a looong time again after this trip, I’d rather not spend too much on any boots/shoes/appropriate footwear. thank you so much!

It has been a while since I have had to deal with snow, but I do know a bit about it. Growing up in the DC area whenever it snowed people FREAKED out and lost their minds. Closed roads, closed schools and bundled into their snow gear.

Before I recommend snow worthy shoes, lets get one thing straight… there is no need to continue to wear these through out the day. Wear them while you walk to your car/ destination and change into some appropriately fabulous shoes once you reach your destination.

Here are some snow worthy shoes for you…

Uggs- They may be hideously Uggly, but they are perfect for snow. They keep your feet warm and you can get a cheap knock off pretty much any where.

Barbo Boots- Look a bit like Minnetonka’s but are water proof, insulated and meant for the harsh outdoors. Not a bad price at $134

Lacoste- If preppy is your style, Lacoste makes from “Napoleon Dynamite” style boots. These would look cute with a little plaid skirt and thick black tights.

Moon Boots- I actually have a pair from Marc Jacobs, if you want to be obnoxious and draw attention to yourself they are perfect!
