Dear Fashion Kitty

Hi, I found your blog and your fashion style is pretty impressive. I would like to ask you, as a 28 old woman, I have a curvaceous body, a pear shape body, which I got a bigger shape on upper heaps. As at the moment, skinny jeans is up to date, I don’t think that it is pretty suitable for me as it will accentuate more on my bigger size. And I am wondering what type of jeans that would suit me, as boot cut is no longer ‘in’. (I usually wear blue cult boot cut on size 30) By the way, I a not wearing boot/booties here as I live in a whole-year-summer country in a south pacific country.

Sorry for long email, could you please also advise any fashion style that would make me more stunning? I have a fair skin, with dark color hair and in Chinese origin. Looking forward receiving ur answer in your wonderful blog “)

Many thanks in advance

Hi there,

First off that may be the nicest email I have gotten to date. So thank you! Now to your question… You are so right, skinny jeans will not suit you. Here is a little lesson in denim that I have learned. Wear what looks right on you. I bought into the skinny jean thing ( 3 pairs actually) and while they don’t look hideous on me I found that boot-cut and flares just look better on me. So that’s what I am wearing these days and looking hot in jeans is much cooler than trying to go with the trend. Trust me on this one.

For a pear shape, balance is better so something with a nice flare (nothing extreme is best). Another key element is larger pockets. Teeny tiny pockets will make the booty look too big. I have chosen 3 denim looks for you…

1.) Casual Cool– These True Religion ‘Bobby’ Jeans will be perfect with tee shirts and flip flops. Great thing about True Religion is the rise is a bit higher so they aren’t too obnoxious and the way they are sewn really holds in the thighs. Get them at ShopBop.com for $179

2.) Dress them Up- For a dressier jean go with the high waisted Joe’s Jeans Muse. The larger rise helps pull in any tummy issues and creates a long lean line which will slim the hips/ butt. Get them at ShopBop.com for $159

3.) Wild Card- This is a newer brand I came across on ShopIntution.com, the larger pocket told me these might just be perfect for you. Kasil Devoted Baltic Boot Cut Jeans $175
Now…On to your personal style. I would go with muted colors like whites, creams and browns; then punch them up colors like a deep grey/blue or red. I love red on a paler complexion with really dark hair. I am picturing pretty girly things mixed with a nice casual look. Like this… With leather sandals, a big hobo bag and of course sunglasses.
