So sorry I’ve been such a terrible blogger lately. The thing is, I’ve been SOOO busy. Like insanely busy!! Not complaining though because I LOVE my job (it’s the best in the world — even though I’ve felt like ripping all of my hair out this week). Q- So I’m sort of a chubby girl, but short at the same time. I’m 125 lbs at 5′0″ (but really 4′11″). Its starting to get pretty hot here in SoCal and I really want to start wearing some rompers or shorts but whenever I do wear shorts they bunch up at the thighs when I walk because my thighs are so big! Do you have any advice on how to deal with that?

A-I know what you mean on the thighs. I don’t have model thin thighs, at all. I like to wear shorts but I don’t like to look like thunder city. So what I do is buy shorts that are cut with a wider leg. That was my legs look nice and trim … AND I am mad comfortable.

Now if that isn’t an option for you or you are having a hard time finding shorts with a wide cut leg, do this … Buy shorts a size or two bigger and get the waist taken in. It seems like a pain in the ass but it will save you time and you will look great.

Q- I’m look for a pair affordable boots ($100) much like the boots Miley has on.

A- Combat boots are so rad. They go with everything and are mad comfortable too. I found you a couple of options, all in the $100 range.

You see, when I get dressed in the morning, I rarely think through what might happen during the course of the day. So on this particular day when I put on 5 inch heels and threw the old Gucci over my shoulder, I had no idea that I would end up going hiking in Malibu. Yes, I wore this while hiking in Malibu. I did manage to turn a few heads though. There may have been a couple of eye rolls/laughing and pointing too but I was too busy enjoying the great outdoors to notice

Not sure if you all knew this about me, but I am kind of an extremist. Especially when it comes to clothing. If I find a tee shirt I like, I buy twelve of them. It’s almost like I temporarily forget that washing machines exist or that a black tee shirt will never present itself to me ever again. Yeah, it’s pretty crazy but its how I operate.

Point of that rant is that I’ve recently pointed my obsession towards Siwy jeans. I bought one pair a few months back and was hooked so I bought two more pairs. Then I went off an bought another pair. NOW I am ripe and ready to get two more pairs.

I can’t help it. They fit like a dream and are super-stylish. Sure in a few months my Siwy acid wash jeans will be laughed right out of my closet, along with my Siwy sequin jeans but whatever — right now they make me happy.

The next pair(s) of jeans on Siwy roster are the Siwy Alice Boyfriend Jean and the Swiy Hannah Cropped Jean in Black. I think these will last a bit longer in the denim rotation. Pretty excited about that too.

Q- A few months ago my friend bought me this faux leather jacket from Wet Seal. Its a dark brown bomber jacket and I love it. The only problem is that it looks too new. I want to make it look more worn in, so it looks better. Are there any techniques you would use to make faux leather look more worn in?

A- Well, here is the reality of the situation — you aren’t going to be able to wear in a faux leather jacket. You are going to wear a hole in it before you are going to make it look worn in. Sad but true. So really the only hope for making it look worn is by taking matters into your own creative hands.

I haven’t done this technique on clothing (only on a pair of Converse), so proceed with caution … Break out the paint. Take a tiny bottle of craft paint that you can find at any basic arts and craft store for my 99 cents. For your brown jacket, I would get a bronze color or brown in a shade lighter than your jacket. Then I would take a dry brush or a dry sponge and lightly brush on a tiny bit of paint around the places you want to look worn in. For example, around the seams and on the elbows. Just apply the smallest amount of paint, applying too much will just look silly.
