Q- What fashion books should I read? I have so much to learn in terms of fashion history.

A- There are so many great fashion books out there. I try to get as many as I can, but it can be an expensive little habit to form. I have a giant illustrated list of my personal collection below (some are missing but you get the idea) and below that is a condensed list of books for you to get your collection started.

Reading is Fashionable

That list has over 50 books and would cost you a fortune to buy all of them at once. I recommend the following books to get you started:
1.) The Little Black Book of Style
2.) Style A to Zoe by Rachel Zoe
3.) Fashion Now (Taschen 25)
4.) Stylist The Interpreters of Fashion
5.) The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own
6.) Dress Your Best: Complete Guide to Finding the Style That’s Right for Your Body
7.) TASCHEN Books: Fashion History
8.) Vintage Fashion: Collecting and Wearing Designer Classics, 1900-1990

  • Tamara

Just wanted to nominate 2 of my faves:

The Body Shape Bible by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine

    &

The Science of Sexy by Bradley Bayou

…both targeted to women who want to define their sense of style in a way that flatters who they are and how they’re curved. Thanks for the other suggestions - now I want #2 & #6!

  • Oh, bonus baby ! Thank you for the brilliant list ! And fashion question for you: I am a natural redhead (okay, you probably already knew that) but I am thinking of going a little rad in honor of my bday month (March !) If I wanted to dye just the tips (as on rocking chick above), what shade would you recommend so that it would look rad rather than fox-like or skunk-like or just some tragic hair accident ?

  • That’s a great list! I need to get crackin :)

  • all you have to do is be yourself, naturally fashion will just shine out if u know who u really are!

well,a little reading might help.. :)
