When All Else Fails … Go Princess with Rimmel London

I am writing this post from a cruise ship, a Princess cruise ship actually. Quite fitting for my latest Rimmel London styling challenge, which was to create a princess look with a lip color to match.

I am having what I am calling a “really?!” sort of day. To kick off the day my iPhone was stolen and came with a $750 replacement phone price tag  – awesome. Secondly, I went kayaking in St. Thomas and got stuck in the middle of a lagoon in the pouring down rain. Oh and it costs 79 cents a minute to use the Internet out here in the middle of the ocean. Really?!

When you have a day like that, you have no choice but to princess-out in your finest party dress. So I popped on some Proenza Schouler and gambled in the cruise casino with the old folks. What a way to end the day.

What I’m wearing- Proenza Schouler bubble dress, which was also worn by Sarah Jessica Parker (just sayin’).  I just fell in love with the playful vibe of this shorter party dress with the princess-y asymmetrical cut. I went simple-ish with the shoes and accessories by pairing the dress with shoes from Vera Wang, a gold wrap bracelet by Tory Burch, and a spiked headband (it’s tiara-like) that I scored for $10 in New York.

I wanted a fresh, simple, and a straight up beautiful look with my makeup. Gotta look pretty when you feel lousy.

Here is how I got the look …

On my lips- I was going for a pinky/coral lip for this challenge so I mixed together three Stay Glossy shades. I started with one swipe of Captivate Me, then added a layer of Endless Summer (can’t get enough of that one), a layer of Stay My Rose, and finished up with another coating of Captivate Me.  So excited about this lip color- this one is definitely going on repeat.

On my eyes- I used an eyeshadow trio from Smashbox cosmetics called On Stage. I love this trio because it gives my eyes some depth without going over board on the color. The base color I used was a gold spiked bronze and my highlight color was a shimmering gold. Then I used Laura Mercier’s Black Karat glitter shadow on my lid. I lined my eyes with Laura Mercier’s Black Gold pencil and finished up the look with Rimmel London Scandal Eyes mascara for extra long, thick lashes.

On my face- I brighten up my brand new tan (the islands are good for something) with Rimmel London natural bronzer in Sun Glow. This bronzer has made its way into my daily makeup ritual. It is perfection!

I officially feel pretty as a princess even though I am out $750. And, no I didn’t win a thing at the casino.

  1. Laughing out loud reading this — but definitely not at your expense. That SUCKS about your phone, girl! I hope you at least had an awesome time on that cruise and hit it big in the casino 🙂

Can’t believe this challenge is over! I’ve loved seeing all of your looks. Hope to meet you in-person in February — NYFW?!
