Sample Sale’n in LA: 3.1 Phillip Lim and A.L.C.

Decent sample sales in Los Angeles are pretty hard to come by. In fact, they happen so infrequently that I don’t even bother adding them into my designer deal-hunting repertoire. However when I found out that two of my favorite labels, 3.1 Phillip Lim and A.L.C., were having sample sales in downtown LA, I suited up and showed up.

I woke up early and brought my two new styling assistants with me. A.L.C.’s sale opened first so we lined up there while waiting for Phillip Lim to get started. Lucky for me, one of my awesome assistants had the brilliant idea of getting a jump on the 3.1 Phillip Lim line. Turns out, they opened an hour early and we were right at the front of the line ready to pounce.

What did I find? A lot. What did I put back? A lot. I hate break it to sample sale diehards but you can actually find better deals at Nordstrom Rack and Loehmanns. I guess the big difference is that sample sales have more options as far as sizes and color ways. I walked away with a great pair of silk pants, a beach cover-up, and a cute tee shirt. My grand total was $175.

My new top – I got the blue leopard version

I headed back down to A.L.C. with my bounty and line had finally calmed itself down. The prices were much better at A.L.C. but nothing begged me to buy it – so I left that sale empty handed.

All in all it was a good shopping day, not a great shopping day but definitely a good one.
